The heated rivalry between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears spans decades, featuring iconic moments and Hall of Famers on both sides. It is the oldest and richest rivalry in football, and it is only going to get more intense from here.
The Packers are entering Year 3 of the Jordan Love era and carry a strong sense of urgency to compete for a championship in 2025. With more experience under their belt, they have no excuses left to fall back on, such as youth or inexperience. It is time to take the next step and make a successful Super Bowl run.
Meanwhile, the Bears may have finally found their quarterback in Caleb Williams. Moreover, they hired Ben Johnson—formerly offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions and a key architect behind Detroit’s recent regular-season success—as their new head coach. Both teams should have high expectations for 2025, which will only add fuel to the competitive fire when they face off.
Caleb Williams is entering his second season as Chicago’s starting quarterback, but he already seems acclimated to the rivalry’s intensity. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Williams took a jab at Green Bay fans during Fanatics Fest in New York City, making sure everyone in attendance knew exactly how he feels about the Packers’ fanbase.

When asked which fan base he likes the least, Williams didn’t hesitate: “Probably Green Bay,” he said.
"They suck," Williams added.
Williams went on to remind everyone in attendance of the Bears’ 24-22 victory over the Packers at Lambeau Field in the 2024 regular-season finale.
“After the game, after we won at Lambeau,” Williams said with a smile. “1-0 at Lambeau."
Green Bay and Caleb Williams are currently tied 1-1. The Packers pulled off a thrilling 20-19 win on the road at Soldier Field last year, thanks to Karl Brooks blocking a last-second field goal. The Bears evened things up in Week 18, needing a last-second field goal to win despite Green Bay playing with a backup quarterback for most of the game.
Green Bay and Chicago will play twice in just three weeks during the 2025 season. First, the Bears come to Lambeau for a Week 14 showdown, then the Packers head to Soldier Field in Week 16 for a Saturday night game in the Windy City. The Packers will probably—and should—ignore anything Caleb Williams says. If Green Bay does their job on the field, they’ve got what it takes to beat Chicago both times.
