FRISCO - The highest-paid player in NFL history is both being ranked a Top 10 quarterback and placed in a comp alongside Geno Smith.
Welcome to Dak Prescott in 2025.
It's becoming increasingly difficult to pinpoint exactly what the Dallas Cowboys have in Prescott.
Is he the agile, accurate quarterback that threw for 4,516 yards and a league-leading 36 touchdowns to finish second in MVP voting in 2023? Or is the aging, injury-prone quarterback who in 2022 led the league in interceptions and who last season saw his completion nosedive five percentage points before suffering a season-ending torn hamstring?
Also, there's that troubling playoff record: 2-5.
In a new story by Yahoo Sports, Prescott is slotted as a combination of the two. He's ranked No. 7 in the quarterback rankings, but given a humbling comparison.
Writes Yahoo, "To me it's kind of like a Geno Plus, I guess, is how I view Dak."
For the Cowboys to break their 30-year Super Bowl streak, Prescott needs to be at least second-tier performer. Yahoo currently has him in the third.
Tier 1: Patrick Mahomes/ Lamar Jackson/ Josh Allen
Tier 2: Joe Burrow/ Justin Herbert/ Matthew Stafford
Tier 3: Dak Prescott/ Geno Smith/ Jordan Love/ C.J. Stroud
The addition of receiver George Pickens should help Prescott this season. But, added to his lofty contract, it also puts even more pressure on No. 4's shoulders.
