Liverpool’s summer business continues at pace with a significant deal involving young centre-back Jarell Quansah now close to completion.
The 22-year-old is set for a permanent switch to Bayer Leverkusen, with the two clubs agreeing on a package worth up to £35 million.
According to reports by Fabrizio Romano, the deal includes a guaranteed £30 million fee and £5 million in add-ons.
Crucially, Liverpool have negotiated a buy-back clause, giving them the option to bring Quansah back in the future should he continue to develop.

Liverpool’s strategy behind letting Quansah leave
Quansah’s departure has progressed quickly. Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes was in attendance as the defender impressed in England’s 3-1 win over Spain at the U21 Euros on Saturday.
That appearance may have solidified the Bundesliga side’s push to close the deal.
Despite a challenging year under Arne Slot, Quansah showed promise.
However, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate locked in as first-choice defenders and Liverpool actively targeting another centre-back this summer, the path to regular starts was unclear.
Previous targets include Levi Colwill, Lenny Yoro and Dean Huijsen.
Quansah will join Leverkusen as a likely replacement for Jonathan Tah.
His transfer, while agreed, may be delayed until after the U21 Euros, where England face the Netherlands in the semi-final on Wednesday.
Liverpool’s decision to include a buy-back clause highlights their long-term view.
The next move could involve securing a replacement, with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi now a top priority.
