In November, the former Manchester United striker was named manager of the East Midlands team following the dismissal of Steve Cooper.
Ruud van Nistelrooy took over as Old Trafford’s interim manager after Erik ten Hag departed, but he left when Ruben Amorim took over.
Last summer, Erik ten Hag’s revamped coaching staff invited the Manchester United veteran back to Old Trafford in an effort to improve on the previous season.
However, after only three months, ten Hag was fired due to the team’s persistently poor performance, and van Nistelrooy was asked to step in as temporary manager.
He was successful throughout his brief rule, which lasted only a few games.
His brief reign aided in his hiring at Leicester City.
While the Dutchman’s time at PSV was successful, his time at Leicester has not been at all like that.
After failing to meet this objective, the Foxes have been formally demoted because they can no longer muster enough points to escape the bottom three.
The team has only won two Premier League games since van Nistelrooy took control, and it was officially announced in April that they will be demoted to the Championship.
Now with the former United coach set to depart, it opens up a room of opportunity for new coaches.

According to the Sun, Sean Dyche is a strong favourite to land the new Leicester City job.
The former Everton chief is seen as the man to pull off the recovery act by some leading figures at the Foxes HQ.
After a terrible season, Leicester has been searching for a replacement for Ruud van Nistelrooy.
A “footballing” coach, such as Bristol City’s Liam Manning or free agent Russell Martin, was advocated.
However, the primary deciding factor now is the financial pressure to return to the Prem’s income through promotion.
Dyche stands out as the most reliable option because of his track record of success at Burnley, where he was promoted twice.
