Bayern Munich’s search for a new left winger is continuing as the summer goes on.
According to Bild’s Christian Falk, Tobi Altschäffl, and Michel Schröer (@MiaSanMia), sporting director Max Eberl has added Liverpool winger Luis Díaz to his list. The Colombian winger has had a good season for Liverpool, scoring 17 goals and assisting 5 in 38 games. However, he has shown inconsistency, especially in the second half of the season.
This is not the first time Bayern have looked to Merseyside in their winger search. Cody Gakpo has been linked to Bayern as well in the past weeks, Eberl is particularly interested in the Dutchman, who will apparently not be available for under 70 million euros.
Meanwhile, Falk has also linked Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli to Bayern. He scored 10 goals and assisted 6 this past season, but has been very much maligned by Arsenal fans for his lack of dynamism and excessive ball hogging. Why Eberl has looked to him as the solution for Bayern’s winger issues is questionable, but Bayern fans have already seen a Premier League flop become a star signing in Eric Dier.
Díaz and Martinelli have now joined Gakpo on Bayern’s growing list of potential wingers, which includes Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint-Germain, Nico Williams of Athletic Club, Rafael Leão of AC Milan, and Jamie Gittens of Borussia Dortmund at the time of writing.
