Durant’s tenure with the Suns started on Feb. 9, 2023, when he and T.J. Warren were traded to Phoenix from the New Jersey Nets for fan favorites Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder, four unprotected first-round picks (2023, 2025, 2027, 2029) and a 2028 first-round pick swap. He made his on-court debut on March 1 against the Charlotte Hornets, after being out since. Jan. 8, 2023, with an MCL sprain in his right knee.
He was a two-time All-Star for Phoenix, earning All-NBA Second Team honors during the 2023-2024 season and hit 30,000 career points during the 2024-2025 season. He also averaged 26.6 points, 6 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in Phoenix on 54% shooting.
But his individual success didn’t translate to team success. The Suns lost to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals in 2023, got swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2024 and didn’t make the playoffs in 2025.
