In recent days, it’s started to seem like a formality that Myles Lewis-Skelly will be extending his contract with Arsenal. Reports suggest a deal has been agreed, and it’s just a matter of signing on the dotted line and announcing it.

Yet before an agreement was reached, rumours had linked the young talent with interest from Real Madrid.

Jonathan Wilson of The Guardian had suggested Real Madrid were sniffing around, clearly hoping to capitalise on any issues in contract negotiations. After all, Lewis-Skelly’s current deal would be up in a year.

Responding to those rumours, Lewis-Skelly’s mum and representative Marcia Lewis refused to be drawn in.

“Rumours are rumours, aren’t they?” Lewis told The Guardian’s Ed Aarons. “I mean, everyone would always have something to say, you know; that’s fine. We don’t engage in all of that.

“Myles is enjoying his football. I would want him to enjoy his football wherever he goes, at whatever stage. And, you know, that’s the most important thing.”

Though we await official confirmation from Arsenal, it seems pretty clear that Lewis-Skelly’s camp still believe north London is the place for him to be at this stage of his career.

Lewis-Skelly made 39 appearances for the Arsenal first team in 2024/25, despite starting the season in the u21s. He’s set for a lot more where that came from in the coming campaign.
