Former Titans Offensive Lineman Talks JC Latham's Position Change

One position group that the Tennessee Titans made it their mission to upgrade this offseason was their offensive line. They signed veteran guard Kevin Zeitler from the Detroit Lions to a one-year, $9 million deal. Tennessee also signed former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr. to a massive four-year, $82 million contract with $50 million guaranteed.

Zeitler fills the void at the right guard spot the Titans had, and with the money committed to Moore, there was no way he wasn't going to protect the blind side of the quarterback. So, with that being said, it was announced that Titans 2024 first-round pick JC Latham would be moving to right tackle.

Some wonder how he will do, but as far as former Titans left tackle Brad Hopkins, who was a fixture for the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Oilers/Tennessee Titans franchise from 1993-2005, gave his thoughts on the move to right tackle for Latham.

"It's not like JC doesn't have the ability to play left tackle," Hopkins told Athlon Sports. Sometimes, we are just better suited to play right tackle. I think with the reps he got in college, he played right tackle. Which means he probably has less adaptation to doing things differently if he is going back to his natural position."

For those that are not aware, Latham played right tackle in college at the University of Alabama and thrived at that position before becoming a left tackle with the Titans last season. As for the move, Hopkins believes the organization is trying to set Latham up for success.

"The fact that they moved him over there, that says that they wanted to put him in the most comfortable position they felt he could be in to be successful," Foster added.

Hopkins went on to discuss how the Titans made significant improvements to the offensive line, enabling the quarterback, presumably Cam Ward, to have enough time to make plays with his arm.

The offseason improvements and the move to right tackle for Latham have been made. Now, the question is: will these moves pay off this season?
