Manchester United are currently in the middle of a hectic transfer window as they prepare and look ahead to the 2025-26 season.
For the men’s side, this has included signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million whilst also targeting other players such as Bryan Mbeumo, Viktor Gyokeres and Emi Martinez.
This has all been done to try and strengthen the depth and quality of the Manchester United side. This has also been done to try and improve on United’s 15th place finish in the Premier League last season.
However, this article doesn’t focus on the men’s team. Instead, it focuses on the women’s game.
This is because news has emerged from the BBC that Women’s Super League side Manchester United are interested in signing Fuka Nagano this summer on a free transfer from fellow WSL side Liverpool.
This is because the 26 year old’s contract runs out this summer and despite previous attempts from Liverpool to agree a new offer, nothing has been agreed yet.
Sources from the Liverpool camp have been reported to be hopeful of Nagano signing a new contract. But, with Manchester United now interested, the signing of this contract extension will become less likely.
The Japanese international joined Liverpool in 2023 and has been a regular starter for the Liver birds ever since.
If the 26 year old was to join United, she would be linking up with fellow Japanese international Hinata Miyazawa. However, the Red Devils are reported to have a list of potential midfield targets with Nagano being just one of these.
Manchester United finished 3rd in the WSL last season although will be looking to go one step further next season. The signing of Fuka Nagano could be the key that United are looking for and the key that they need to dethrone Chelsea at the submit of the Women’s Super League.
