NBA Rumors: Rockets Beat Out These Celtics Rivals In Kevin Durant Trade

To no surprise, Kevin Durant garnered plenty of interest before the Phoenix Suns reportedly traded him to the Houston Rockets.

Durant was [dealt to Houston](https://nesn.com/2025/06/former-celtics-coach-ime-udoka-reportedly-lands-nba-superstar-in-blockbuster/) in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft as well as five second-round picks, according to a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania on Sunday.

The Rockets reportedly [beat out a handful of other teams](https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45561747/sources-suns-trading-kevin-durant-rockets-blockbuster-deal) for the 15-time NBA All-Star, who is entering the final year of his contract.

Phoenix had serious talks with the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and Rockets this week, according to Charania. Other “wild-card suitors” reportedly included the Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers, LA Clippers and Denver Nuggets.

Chances are the Boston Celtics aren’t too upset with Durant staying in the Western Conference. Durant landing with the Miami Heat, who reportedly were on his short list of preferred landing spots, or the Cleveland Cavaliers wouldn’t have been ideal for the Green.
