In January this year, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland signed a nine-and-a-half year contract extension as he officially penned the lengthiest deal in Premier League history.
Before he committed his long-term future at City, Real Madrid were trying to sign Haaland.
But it seems like Manchester City have won over the 24-year-old’s heart.
Manchester City knew Haaland would reject Real Madrid and they were confident of convincing him to stay put at the Etihad Stadium.
But since signing his latest contract, the Norwegian international has undergone his first season at City without winning a trophy.
Erling Haaland’s father says he is happy at Man City
Furthermore, Liverpool have now emerged as the Premier League’s dominant force and while Erling Haaland would have a burning desire to win the title again, Manchester City will head into next season as underdogs.

Despite Pep Guardiola’s side making statement signings such as Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders, the Reds have also brought in the likes of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong this summer.
However, Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge Haaland told MARCA that his son is happy with life at Manchester City: “He is happy. Now he’s focused and focused on the Club World Cup and…yes, he’s happy.”

“I think they are the favorites to win this tournament. We’re seeing some good games. Yes, I think they’re among the favorites.”
Haaland’s father has already made a worrying admission about Man City future
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak revealed Haaland’s winning mentality by disclosing that at the end of the season, he was happy to cancel his summer vacation to prepare for the following campaign.
It seems as if the former Borussia Dortmund marksman is as committed as ever to helping City return to the top.
However, before Haaland signed for Manchester City in 2022, his father revealed that his son wished to play in different nations.
Manchester City can confirm that we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022.
The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player.

The retired midfielder said on Viaplay’s Haaland: The Big Decision documentary: “I think Erling wants to test out his capabilities in every league.”
“Then, he can stay in every league for three to four years maximum. He could have two-and-a-half years in Germany, two-and-a-half in England, and then in Spain, Italy, France, right? We do not know if it will be like that, but I think he would like to test his abilities in the big leagues.”
If that indeed remains Haaland’s next career ambition, Manchester City fans could be worried but for now, he seems content with life at the Etihad Stadium.
