Although Durant was ultimately traded to one of his preferred landing spots, there was still some uncertainty—since the Suns had the final say and could have sent him wherever they wanted.

At the Fanatics Fest event in New York, Durant revealed that he was involved in the trade talks that ultimately sent him to Houston, and that he had a sense the deal was going to happen a bit earlier.

"Most definitely," Durant said when asked whether he had a hand in the trade at the Fanatics Fest.

"They asked me where I wanted to go, so I gave them the destinations I had in mind—and here we are," he added.

Durant revealed that he was happy that the trade was announced while he was on stage in front of a huge audience.

"I had an idea, but I didn’t know exactly when it was gonna happen. But I’m glad it happened when I was on stage," he said.

Now, with the addition of Kevin Durant, the Rockets look like legitimate championship contenders next season, having kept their core intact with Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, Fred VanVleet, and Jabari Smith Jr.

Despite being in the later stages of his career, 36-year-old Durant remains highly productive, averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game this season.
