Jarvis Brownlee Jr. of the Tennessee Titans intercepts a pass but lands out of bounds
The Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans do not like each other. In the day and age of sportsmanship and off field relationships, it’s nice to be reminded every once in a while that there’s no love lost between these two rivals. The latest notch in the rivalry’s belt came yesterday when Tennessee’s young corner Jarvis Brownlee quote tweeted a video of Anthony Richardson rapping.
“Indy on the ⏰ for that bs,” read Brownlee’s now deleted post.
For those who don’t know, Colts’ quarterback Anthony Richardson has a passion for rapping. He used to make music under the name Big VO. He has not released any new music in years, but some media personalities are circulating old videos of the young man’s music and passing it off as a current event.
Social Media Smear Campaign
As previously mentioned, Anthony Richardson used to put out music. His account can still be found on Spotify under the name “Big VO”. The current video that is being circulated is from his 2022 single titled “Villain”. This was recorded during the offseason prior to his third and final year at the University of Florida.
“Anthony Ricahrdson is rapping. Is it the beginning of the end for Richardson in the NFL,” read an X post from PlayerProfiler, an advanced stats account with more than 35,000 followers.
A very popular Twitter account, Dov Kleinman, also circulated the video. Kleinman is known for pedaling falsehoods and “rage baiting” his more than one million followers. Kleinman’s post, which read “Colts star QB Anthony Richardson is also a rapper…” has over 1.6 million impressions.
Another post of the same video from the account @MLFootball has gained 1.6 million views as well.
Fans are taking this video as a recent development and using it to question Richardson’s commitment to his team and his career.
Jarvis Brownlee and Anthony Richardson Have History
It would be irresponsible to assume that the young Titans’ corner holds any sort of animosity for the Colts’ quarterback based on a play that took place last season. But in the same breath, it would be irresponsible not to make mention of the highlight reel touchdown Richardson scored on Brownlee in Week 16 of the 2024 season.
It was a quarterback power play to the near side boundary. With a hand on the back of All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson, Richardson muscled through the arm tackle of Brownlee and onto pay dirt for six. Richardson tied the game at 7-7 in the second, and would go onto score 17 more points that quarter to beat their division rival. The Titans dropped to 3-12 on the year while the Colts tightened up the Wildcard race, improving to 7-8.
