Former Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has criticised the leadership of Manchester United today, with the current Austria boss commenting on several matters relating to the Red Devil’s leadership structure.

Rangnick managed United intermittently in 2021 and 2022 although left the club at the end of the 2021-22 season due to the demands that his new role as Austria would bring to the 66 year old.

Rangnick Criticises United’s Leadership

Now, in an interview with Sport.es, the former United boss has taken the opportunity to criticise the Manchester United leadership.

Commenting on the leadership, he said:

‘I think we have to go back to 2013, when Sir Alex left the club. And at the time he was still there, he was the mastermind behind it all. He probably also brought a lot of important people to the club. And the moment he left, some of those people probably left the club as well. And, since then, I think they have a leadership problem.

‘Who’s really making the decisions and why are they making them? Are they really the best people for the job? I can only tell you that the six months I was there, it was difficult to say, even for me as head coach.

‘Who were the decision-makers? Who? Who could I talk to? If we wanted to sign new players, it was difficult. There were people, but in the end, it was difficult.’

This interview comes at a time of expectation within the club. This is because of United’s 15th place finish in the Premier League this season. This placement is the worst the Red Devils have finished in the 21st century.

With Ralf Rangnick coming out publicly to criticise Manchester United’s leadership, focus will now turn towards the leadership at United to respond and to prove that the club doesn’t have a leadership problem.
