Man Utd star Alejandro Garnacho spotted wearing shirt of Premier League rivals on holiday

Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho – whose time at the club, under Ruben Amorim, is set to end this summer – has sent the Old Trafford faithful into meltdown after posting a picture of himself in a rivals’ Premier League shirt while on holiday.

In the off-season, the Argentine has visited Ibiza ahead of the 2024/25 campaign getting underway and, by virtue of Amorim telling him to find a new club, it is likely that he’ll be representing another club come mid-August when domestic football returns.

Regardless of whether he stays put or moves onto pastures new, with Manchester United planning to cash in before the summer ends, his most recent post on Instagram has left a sour taste in the mouths of fans, who have taken to social media to show their dismay.

Garnacho’s Social Media Post Riles up Man Utd Fans

'He knows exactly what this will do but does it anyway'

The snap, which has angered Manchester United supporters, showed the club’s No.17 walking away from the camera – inbetween a Porsche and a Lamborghini – shows Garnacho in an Aston Villa strip, with ‘Rashford 9’ adorned across the back.

Although he may argue that him wearing Marcus Rashford’s Villa shirt is a gesture of support for his Red Devils teammate – who spent the second half of last term on loan at Villa Park as a means of reviving his once-promising career on the left wing.

Sources, however, have told BBC Sport that Garnacho – who reportedly wants to join a Premier League rival upon leaving the club this summer – merely posted the photo as a show of support for the 27-year-old Englishman.

Rashford – who has two years left on his deal – commented "My brother" on the post and accompanied it with a love heart emoji. The winger, one of Manchester United's top ten assist-makers of all time, scored four goals and notched six assists in 17 games under Unai Emery.

In response to the youngster’s show of appreciation for Rashford, supporters of Manchester United have taken to social media – with one insisting that his post was deliberate. They wrote: “Garnacho knows exactly what he is doing.”

On the same page, another added: “He knows exactly what this will do but does it anyway.” Another insisted that Amorim, regarded as one of the best young managers in world football, has ‘one hell of a job’ on his hands to get rid of the toxicity within the Old Trafford dressing room.

“Amorim has one hell of a job on. Dressing room is toxic.”

Referencing Garnacho’s initial post and Rashford’s comment, another suggested that cutting ties with both is the move forward: “Get him and Rashford out of this club as soon as possible, we don’t have time for any negativity and drama to bring us down.”
