According to a report from L’Equipe journalist Loïc Tanzi (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich has submitted a new contract proposal to Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams:
Bayern are insisting and have sent a new proposal to Nico Williams in the past few hours. The new offer is worth €10m net fixed per year plus €2m bonuses. The release clause is not a problem for Bayern.
Later, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg corroborated the news:
BREAKING | FC Bayern are not giving up on Nico #Williams and have submitted a new offer over the past 48 hours. Bayern are offering a net salary of €12 million as also via L‘Équipe.
The new offer was part of Bayern’s plan, as revealed on Friday.
Bayern hope that Barcelona will fail to finalise the deal due to financial or registration issues. However, Williams is currently not holding any personal talks with Bayern — he is waiting for an agreement between Barca and Bilbao.
Williams seems set on a move that many consider his “dream destination” — FC Barcelona. At this point, Barca and Athletic Bilbao have reportedly had talks over Williams, but it does not appear as if Bayern Munich has gotten that far. First, Williams will have to re-think his plans, decide whether or not he wants to move to Germany, and analyze the proposal that was sent over.
It still feels like a longshot...
