Washington Wizards willing to make ‘surprising’ offers for No. 2 pick in 2025 NBA Draft

The Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets conducted a blockbuster trade involving Kevin Durant, but the Washington Wizards could be next. After four consecutive seasons of missing the playoffs, it’s time for the Wizards to try something new.

While the Wizards do have the sixth overall pick, they’re reportedly trying to move up even higher in the 2025 NBA Draft.

According to [RG Media’s Grant Afseth](https://rg.org/news/basketball/wizards-have-made-aggressive-trade-offers-to-land-top-pick-in-draft), the Wizards could even be plotting a trade up to the No. 2 overall pick, which is currently held by the San Antonio Spurs.

> “Holding picks No. 6 and 18 in the first round, the Wizards have explored trade-up scenarios in hopes of securing one of the top backcourt prospects, league sources told RG. Washington has made multiple offers to teams in the top five in an effort to land either Dylan Harper or Jeremiah Fears, even being willing to part with surprising names to move up to No. 2 overall. Thus far, those attempts have been rebuffed.”

While the Wizards can present different trade offers until they’re blue in the face, there’s been no indication that the Spurs are ready to part ways with the second overall pick in the first round. Yet, if they can’t get up to two, the Wizards could still potentially find another trade partner just ahead of them.

If so, they could still try negotiating a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers at No. 3, the Charlotte Hornets at No. 4, or the Utah Jazz at No. 5. Yet, if the Wizards are dead set on moving up for a top prospect, Washington may have to include some pieces they’re hesitant to part with.
