The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Travis Hunter as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Nearly two months after the selection, the Colorado Buffaloes product has signed his rookie contract with the franchise.
According to Adam Schefter, the 22-year-old has put pen to paper for a four-year deal worth $46.65 million. The rookie QB will be eligible for a fifth-year option ahead of his fourth season with the Jaguars.
The deal includes a $30.57 million signing bonus, and Hunter will get all of it upfront, making him the first non-QB not drafted first overall to receive his entire signing bonus upfront. The Jaguars made Hunter's signing official on Sunday, June 22.
Fans flocked to the comment section to share their views on Hunter's record-breaking deal.
"He deserves way more," one fan wrote on X.
"Now that’s a damn good contract. Wow," another added.
"Love that the Jags are going ALL IN on making this guy the Franchise ✊," said another response.
"$26M for WR & $20M for CB," one user posted a sarcastic breakdown.
"He’s a unicorn. It’s okay," another commented.
Hunter was one of three first-round picks yet to sign his rookie contract. Only the Cincinnati Bengals' Shemar Stewart and the Denver Broncos' Jahdae Barron have yet to ink their deals.
The Jaguars gave up their next year's first-round pick and more draft capital to trade up for the No. 2 pick. Hunter recorded 96 passes for 1,258 yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions in his final year with the Buffaloes and won the Heisman Trophy.

The Jaguars' rookie had a dual role during his time with the Buffaloes. He will continue to play at both the wide receiver and the cornerback position in the NFL. Hunter participated in both offensive and defensive practice sessions in the mandatory minicamp.
Maintaining his health while living up to the dual role in the NFL is going to be tough for the youngster. But if he manages to do so, the sky will be the limit for the star rookie.
The Jaguars parted ways with a ton of this year and next year's draft picks, and they would hope for Hunter to make the deal worthwhile.
