The Kansas City Chiefs had another impressive draft this season and added possible future stars like Josh Simmons from Ohio State, Omarr Norman-Lott and Ashton Gillotte, among others.
The Chiefs were able to add some pieces to hopefully improve both sides of the ball, and quickly.
Field Yates believes the rookies could have an immediate impact on the club.
"We will see how soon, by the way, see Josh Simmons on the field, their first round pick, 32 overall," said Yates on NFL Live. "But in the second and third rounds, I thought they addressed that pass rushing, defensive side of the ball with two impact rushers. Omarr Norman-Lott second-round pick out of Tennessee, had five sacks last season. Then Ashton Gillotte out of Louisville, who, a couple of years ago, was ninth in the FBS in sacks, this past season that number dipped.
"Let me tell you what, that guy was hard to block, even if his sack production was down last season in Louisville. This team is going to attack you on both sides of the ball. The draft helped this year."
Kansas City signed veteran offensive tackle Jaylon Moore in free agency, and Simmons could battle it out for the starting left tackle spot to start the season.
Norman-Lott most likely won't start anytime soon. The Chiefs have Chris Jones, Mike Pennel Jr. and Jerry Tillery already on the interior of the defensive line, so the former Tennessee standout will probably start the season as a rotational player.
Gillotte could find playing time early, as the Chiefs struggled to get to the quarterback last season. George Karlaftis led the team with eight sacks, but Mike Danna, Felisx Anudike-Uzomah and Charles Omenihu tallied just seven between them.
