NBA Makes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Announcement After Thunder-Pacers Finals

The Oklahoma City Thunder were at home on Sunday night as they took on the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Of course, both teams entered the final game of the NBA season looking to grab a victory and win a championship.

That is exactly what the Thunder were able to do as they grabbed the 103-91 victory to clinch their first championship since relocating to Oklahoma City.

It was a truly dominant second half for the Thunder as the Pacers struggled after Tyrese Haliburton leaving the game with an Achilles injury in the first quarter.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way in Sunday’s victory as he ended the game with 29 points, five rebounds, 12 assists and two blocks.

Jalen Williams also came up huge in the victory as he recorded 20 points, four rebounds and four assists while Chet Holmgren added 18 points, eight rebounds and five blocks of his own.

After the game, the NBA made a major announcement regarding Shai’s performance during the NBA Finals.

The NBA announced that Shai was named the 2025 NBA Finals MVP and was awarded the Bill Russell trophy.

This is a massive achievement by Shai and one that was well-deserved as he closed out his dominant season with an incredible Finals series.

Through the Finals, the 26-year-old star averaged 30.3 points, 4.6 assists, 5.6 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 44.3% from the field and 24.2% from three.

With this award, Shai also capped off an incredible season that saw him be named regular season, Western Conference Finals and NBA Finals MVP as he led the Thunder to a championship.

Now Oklahoma City enters the offseason as they try to upgrade their roster even more as they try to win back-to-back titles next season with Shai leading the way.
