All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal as they get closer to pre-season.

Arsenal are still searching for their first signing of the summer as they prepare to add a number of players to their squad between now and the start of the new season. The Gunners need to add depth aplenty this summer, while they also need a striker and a winger to help increase competition in those two vital spots.

Agoume links

Arsenal are being linked with a move for Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume as they look to replace two midfielders this summer. Martin Zubimendi looks set to replace Jorginho, but the Gunners also look as though they will have to replace Thomas Partey, too.

According to Fichajes, the 23-year-old defensive midfielder is one of the options that has been identified, although it’s unclear how much he will cost. Transfermarkt value Agoume at only £6.8million, but it’s likely a deal would cost significantly more than that,

Partey rejected

Atletico Madrid have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey this summer. The Gunners have been in contract talks with Partey over recent weeks but they haven’t been able to reach an agreement over a deal.

According to ED, Atletico Madrid were offered the chance to re-sign Partey, where he truly made his name, but they have opted against the move due to have having other irons in the fire this summer.

Timber injury latest

Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has been speaking about his injury recovery after being ruled out until at least the start of pres-season, with the defender hoping to be back for the start of the club’s summer preparations.

He said: “It got worse and worse. I had an Oranje scan, and the conclusion was that I had to undergo surgery at the end of the season. I wanted to play at Arsenal, but it was hard. Sometimes the pain is much worse. I’ve been through how that feels now. I only trained one day before the match.”

Arsenal boss Arteta has previously said of the injury: “We don’t know yet. It will depend how the recovery goes. It will be weeks, but we don’t know exactly how much. Hopefully, it will be somewhere near the pre-season, if everything goes well, but we don’t know yet.”
