'Offer is clear'- Napoli sporting director comments on Jadon Sancho deal as Man United face similar problem

Manchester United are hoping that Napoli offer a solution to get rid of Jadon Sancho this summer.

As expected, selling players has been the biggest issue for Manchester United this summer, with the lack of activity slowing Ineos’ plans.

United have already signed Matheus Cunha and bid for Bryan Mbeumo, but other incomings will likely rely on bringing in money from sales.

Jadon Sancho’s £25m move to Chelsea collapsed following his loan spell because the 25-year-old winger was not willing to accept a significant wage cut.

Former manager Jose Mourinho has shown interest in Sancho, but it seems Italian side Napoli are in pole position to get a deal over the line.

Napoli chief outlines Jadon Sancho offer

Reports suggest Juventus have made an approach for Sancho and Napoli are also considering a £21 million deal.

Finally, it seems Sancho is ready to sacrifice his wages to force a move away from Old Trafford, and Napoli’s sporting director has made it clear that he will have to accept a cut.

As relayed by journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Napoli director Giovanni Manna said: “Our offer is clear, we will not pay the salary Sancho is asking for.”

Sancho is currently earning £300,000 per week on his United contract, which explains why Ineos are incredibly eager to get him out the exit door.

Jadon Sancho exit will make space for new signing

United fans want Sancho gone at all costs, but the £31.6m fee to terminate Sancho’s deal is simply not an option.

A sale is a top priority, and removing Sancho’s salary from the wage bill will free up millions on top of the expected £21 million fee.

Sancho won’t need to be replaced in Ruben Amorim’s squad given that he hasn’t played in the red of United for a year, but his exit does free up space and funds for a new signing.

United are still scouring the market for a new striker as well as trying to finalise an agreement for Mbeumo with Brentford.

Sancho’s sale could trigger a domino effect that kicks United’s window back into action.
