Thunder guard Nikola Topic became the third-youngest NBA player to win a title, despite not having played a single game in the league yet.
The Oklahoma City Thunder captured their first-ever NBA championship for the city of Oklahoma, defeating the Indiana Pacers 103–91 in a decisive Game 7.
This year’s title was a true team effort from the Thunder, who boast one of the most complete, if not the most complete, rosters in the NBA. They were led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who earned regular season and Finals MVP honors after an outstanding performance this season.
What’s even more remarkable is that we may not have seen this team’s full potential just yet. One of their top young prospects, Nikola Topic, who already holds a place in NBA history, hasn’t even stepped on the court this season.
Despite not playing a single game, Topic was included on the Thunder’s active roster and is now an NBA champion. In doing so, he made history as the third-youngest player ever to win an NBA title.
The only two players younger than Topic to win a championship are fellow Serbian Darko Milicic, who did so with the Pistons in 2004, and Jonathan Kuminga, who won with the Warriors in 2022.
Why Topic Might Be The STEAL Of 2024 NBA Draft
