Manchester United generally wouldn’t want any advice from Chelsea players, especially those who were once linked to the club, but the latest one will be music to their ears.
Nobody is mistaking Ruben Amorim for being under any sort of pressure despite the 2024/25 season, but a similar start to the next season could be trouble.
Man Utd’s fixture list for 2025/26 is extremely demanding and there are fears that a slow start could put him on the hot seat immediately.
Amidst the worries, Chelsea’s new player, who was once linked to Man Utd, has just told the decision-makers at Old Trafford why Amorim is worth persisting with.

Ruben Amorim praised by Dario Essugo
Dario Essugo is among the numerous players Amorim gave a debut to at Sporting, a list which includes world-class players today and some who will be there in the future.
Essugo was also linked to United before, Chelsea, just like with Geovany Quenda, swooped in and took him away from Amorim’s grasp.
The midfielder has already made his first-team debut for the Blues at the Club World Cup and in an interview with The Mirror, credited Amorim for his rapid rise.
He said: “He brought me to the first team, so he helped me a lot to understand the game, to reach the level I am here now. I am grateful. He is so demanding. He is a demanding person.

“He likes to win every time, so he has helped me a lot. I had one training session with the first team, and the coach Ruben Amorim liked what he saw, and he called me to play.
“I didn’t expect to play because at this time, there was Covid, and I wasn’t playing anything because the Champions League had stopped. We had good players like Manuel Ugarte, João Palhinha, and now Morten Hjulmand.”
Ruben Amorim will come good at Man Utd
It is rare to see a figure in football about whom nobody has anything negative to say, but that’s exactly what Amorim has managed in his managerial career so far.
His commitment to playing young players, command over the dressing room, and unflinching demand for high standards make him the ideal Man Utd manager.
If Ineos back him, as they look like doing, it seems inevitable that Amorim will turn it around, and the 2024/25 season will be looked back on as the steps taken back to launch forward.
Omar Berrada has backed Amorim to do something similar, too, and those kinds of endorsements don’t come easily.
Players who now play for the rivals are grateful to Amorim, and that’s the kind of bond that speaks volumes about his man-management.
Give him time and backing, and he will almost certainly come good at United too.
