Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool.

Alan Shearer has responded to speculation surrounding Alexander Isak’s future, though it wasn’t his words that told the story.

Newcastle United are growing tired of the Isak rumours. Unless there’s an astronomical offer, and we’re talking well in excess of £150million, then the Swede isn’t for sale.

But it appears not everyone has got the message. An explosion of noise on social media last week led some to believe Isak could be on his way to Anfield this summer.

And the thought of that happening irked Newcastle legend Shearer, who quite literally gave the Reds the middle finger.

After agreeing Wirtz will either play as the No.8 or No.10 in Slot’s system, Lineker couldn't help but tease Shearer, saying “yeah and Isak as the nine, right?”

Shearer quickly responded with “no chance” before showing Lineker the middle finger on both hands. Now that’s a gesture that many on Tyneside will be tempted to use!

Newcastle United CEO outlines Alexander Isak

If you’re looking for a more diplomatic view, then Newcastle chief executive Darren Eales provided that in March. Eales admitted it would be “crazy” of the Magpies to sell their best players as well as hinting at contract talks with Isak, whose current deal runs until 2028, this summer.

“We're in a position now where because of the fact we were able to move a couple of players in January that weren't really impacting on minutes on the pitch,” said Eales.

"We've got that wish and desire to keep our key players, they're all under long-term contracts. So from that perspective we have no intention at all of those players being moved on, and we're not under the gun or anything like that. We've got an ownership that is ambitious, wants the best for the club. From that perspective, it'd be crazy for us to consider it.

"The reality is that all of our players are under long-term deals. They’re committed to the club. So, from that perspective, we’re not looking to move any player on.

"We’re going to be clear – he [Isak] has multi years left so all of these things, we will have the discussions in terms of a new deal just like we did with, whether it’s Joelinton, Bruno or Anthony Gordon. That’s something that we will approach in the summer.”
