The Partey ends at the Emirates

Thomas Partey will leave Arsenal on the 1st of July when he becomes a free agent.

The club had been locked in negotiations with the Ghanaian international over an extension to his contract which expires this month, but talks ultimately broke down over his wage demands.

He was looking for an increase on his present salary, but Arsenal were not willing to meet his expectations for a player who turns 33 in August.

Partey will not lack for options, having been previously linked with Barcelona, AC Milan and Juventus. And it also means that Arsenal have an extra recruitment need in midfield, adding to the already large workload of Sporting Director Andrea Berta.

He will leave North London having played 167 games in all competitions, and scoring nine goals, although injury meant that he missed a number of games, especially during his early years at the club.

Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
