Week one of the summer’s second transfer window did not disappoint for Liverpool as a deal for Florian Wirtz was confirmed.
The German became Liverpool’s record transfer on Friday when he joined for a fee of £100 million ($135M), plus a potential £16M ($22M) in add-ons.
That is unlikely to be the final addition of a busy summer, with Milos Kerkez’s arrival also anticipated soon, something his family have all but confirmed.
But the next Liverpool transfer is likely to be a departure. Jarell Quansah’s move to Bayer Leverkusen is edging closer, with reports emerging on Sunday that an agreement on price to take the defender to the BayArena has been reached.
The Reds will need to find a replacement in the market, and Marc Guehi has been linked with a switch to Anfield. The Crystal Palace center-back has a year remaining on his contract and has also reportedly a target for Newcastle United and Arsenal.
Meanwhile, reports continue to link the Reds with a move for a striker, with Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak rumoured to be on the Premier League champions’ transfer radar.
