“We know the clause” – Insistence Sunderland won’t have to pay more for transfer

Over the past month, the Ukrainian media have repeatedly covered Sunderland’s pursuit of Dynamo Kyiv’s Vladyslav Vanat.

Journalist Mikhail Spivakovsky was the first to report Black Cats’ interest in the striker on May 22nd.

On June 10th, Champion stated Sunderland are the favourites, ahead of three other English clubs, in the race to sign the 23-year-old. On Friday, journalist Igor Burbas said Dynamo Kyiv increased the asking price from €20-25m and Sunderland have agreed to pay that fee.

Spivakovsky has been speaking to TaToTake to give his taken on Vanat’s asking price and Sunderland’s chances of securing his services this summer. UA Football have relayed his comments.

He dismissed Burbas’ claim from three days ago that the Ukrainian club have raised the frontman’s price to €25m.

“Insider information that Dynamo want €25m for their striker instead of €20m is simply absurd, as if to say: ‘Clause? No, we haven’t heard of it’,” he said.

“We know the clause in Vanat’s contract is €20m. There should also be specified deadlines and the number of instalments.”

Régis Le Bris’ side or any other club can secure his services by offering €20m to Dynamo Kyiv this summer. The journalist has doubts over the Ukraine international ending up at the Stadium of Light.

“The clause just needs to be activated. That is, to find a justified need to spend such money on this particular player,” Spivakovsky explained.

“If we are talking about Sunderland, then this doesn’t look like an obvious transfer.”

Vanat scored 21 goals and registered nine assists from 45 games in all competitions for Dynamo Kyiv this season.
