Atletico Madrid have reportedly withdrawn their interest in Lucas Digne, shifting their focus towards Andy Robertson instead. The imminent arrival of Milos Kerkez at Anfield has cast doubt over Robertson's future with Liverpool.

Atletico's manager, Diego Simeone is keen to secure an experienced left-back this summer. Robertson, who reportedly could be available for a mere £5million, has emerged as a potential target.

The 31-year-old Scotland international only has one year left on his contract with Liverpool and could depart for free next summer. Kerkez's anticipated move from Bournemouth is likely to see him take over Robertson's long-standing position as Liverpool's first-choice left-back.

The Times reports that Simeone has lost interest in Villa's Digne after learning that the Frenchman would cost £10m. Like Robertson, Digne also has just a year left on his contract but is considered a key part of Unai Emery's plans.

Robertson is seen by the La Liga club as a more affordable and achievable target. He could be set to end his seven-year stint on Merseyside, a period that has seen him win two Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy.

Liverpool are eager to recoup some funds after splashing out a combined £146m on Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong.

Kerkez is expected to add a further £40m to the bill when the Hungarian international's transfer from Bournemouth is finalised.

Robertson might be on his way out alongside Jarell Quansah, who is set to join Bayer Leverkusen.

In exchange for the Reds academy graduate, Leverkusen are expected to return around £35m of the money Liverpool shelled out for Wirtz and Frimpong.

Liverpool could still splash the cash and are not thought to be at any significant risk of breaching profit and sustainability rules.

Much like Quansah's move to Leverkusen came following negotiations for Frimpong and Wirtz, a new striker could involve further negotiations with Atletico - but this time for former Manchester City star Julian Alvarez.

The player's representative, Fernando Hidalgo, claimed in March the Reds had enquired last year about signing the Argentina striker from Manchester City before his switch to La Liga for £80million.

And further reports have emerged this summer linking the World Cup winner with a move to Anfield.

His future remains uncertain, despite netting 29 goals in all competitions last season.

Alvarez made the switch to the Spanish capital in a £65m deal and it's been loosely reported that a similar fee could tempt him back to the Premier League.

Arne Slot is eager to keep enhancing his squad, spurred on by Arsenal and City both dipping into the transfer market in an attempt to catch up with the Premier League champions.
