Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Hugo Bueno will have to return to Molineux after spending the season on loan at Feyenoord.
Three days ago, we covered claims from the Dutch press that Feyenoord want to extend the left-back’s stay, either on loan or via a permanent transfer. Marca stated Leeds United are also in the picture.
Algemeen Dagblad journalist Mikos Gouka covers the Eredivisie side and talked about the Wolves player on AD’s Voetbal podcast. Voetbal Primeur have relayed his comments.
The Spaniard played 30 games for the Dutch club and his performances convinced Robin van Persie. The journalist claims the manager likes the 22-year-old and his side are looking to either sign him on a new loan deal or buy him this summer.
“Feyenoord are looking into that. Robin van Persie is a fan and Bueno is enjoying himself,” he said.
“So, they are looking into whether they can rent him for another year, but also whether they can buy him. Of course, Feyenoord won’t just spend all of Quilindschy Hartman’s money, but the question is how much Wolves still want him to come back.”
The Premier League club have sold Rayan Aït-Nouri to Manchester City. Despite this, it is not clear whether Bueno will have a place in Vítor Pereira’s plans next season.
If Wolves decide to sell him, they can collect a higher fee by selling Bueno to an English club instead of Feyenoord. The AD reporter explained the fullback’s opinion may be decisive if there’s a transfer.
“So, you could say: if they sell him within England, he will always yield more than to Feyenoord,” Gouka explained.
“But hey, the player may also have something to say. Feyenoord would really like him, they hope that he will play for them next season. Whether it is a loan or a sale, that is a crucial thing.
“[If it’s loan], then you can ultimately better choose your own players. Or you have to think now: rent again and maybe there will be an option to buy. Or they have to buy him now.”
Bueno’s contract lasts until 2028.
