Everton are yet to make a major splash in the summer transfer window.

David Moyes expressed his desire to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, although he eventually moved to Chelsea.

Elsewhere, Man City duo Kyle Walker and Jack Grealish have been regularly linked with an Everton move.

As the Toffees prepare for their move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, they are now set to battle Aston Villa for the signing of Geny Catamo.

Everton face Premier League competition to sign Catamo

Everton bid farewell to Goodison Park on a high, finishing last season with a convincing 2-0 win over Southampton.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Merseyside outfit was able to say goodbye on positive terms due to the remarkable work done by Moyes, who steered them well clear of relegation.

Now, the North West side are in a positive financial position under the Friedkin Group, and are ready to back the 62-year-old in the transfer market.

Catamo has suitors from the Premier League, with Everton, Aston Villa, and Fulham all interested, according to Portuguese newspaper, Correio Da Manha (23 June, page 30).

However, the outlet claims that Serie A side Como have now expressed interest in the Sporting CP man.

They also state that the Portuguese champions do not want to sell as his former club, Amora, holds a stunning 75 per cent sell-on clause.

Who is Geny Catamo?

Catamo is a 24-year-old right-sided midfielder who can also play winger, although he has also been utilised on the left.

The Mozambique international sealed a permanent move to Sporting CP in 2020, having initially joined on loan in 2019.

After breaking into the Portuguese giant’s first team, he has made 90 appearances, scoring 13 goals and assisting 10 times.

He was a first-team regular last season, making 30 appearances, although 10 of those came from the bench.

Everton had both Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison on the right on loan last season, but Catamo would hopefully go way better than that struggling duo.

Although the Toffees will face tough competition for the 24-year-old’s services, they are an appealing proposition heading into their new era.
