Newcastle’s current pursuits in the summer transfer market have been mainly focused on players with prior Premier League experience.
Attackers like Liam Delap, Bryan Mbeumo, Joao Pedro and Anthony Elanga have been the names most prominently linked with a move to St James’ Park, though only the latter two are showing any signs of actually happening.
The club are in desperate need of another goalscorer, as the strain of eight more Champions League games to a congested fixture schedule could do Alexander Isak more harm than good if we don’t have adequate depth.
We’ve been told to watch out for potential overseas additions and another potential option has emerged…
Newcastle have ‘enquired’ about the availability of French striker Randal Kolo Muani, according to [TuttoJuve’s](https://x.com/_Morik92_/status/1936749090072641844) Mirko Di Natale.
The forward, who was linked with Newcastle during his Frankfurt days, is currently on loan at Juventus, although it’s not clear if PSG will sell the attacker to the Serie A giants or consider potential Premier League offers.
Writing on X, Di Natale commented “Not only Chelsea, but the other two Premier League clubs who have enquired about Randal Kolo Muani are Man Utd and Newcastle.”
Having spent the second half of the season at Juventus, where he grabbed eight goals in 16 Serie A appearances, Igor Tudor’s side are reportedly looking to negotiate with PSG over a permanent transfer.
Di Natale also notes that the club are convinced Kolo Muani would be keen to stay in Turin, as the 26-year-old does not factor in Luis Enrique’s plans for the next season.
Having been bought from Frankfurt for over £75m less than two seasons ago, Kolo Muani has struggled to live up to his hefty price tag.
PSG will no doubt be looking to recoup some good money from what they originally paid, and with Chelsea and Manchester United thought to be amongst the other interested buyers, this may be an expensive transfer saga worth staying out of.
But there’s definitely a quality player to be found in Kolo Muani: boasting experience in three of the top five leagues as well as appearances in the Champions League and World Cup (let’s just ignore \*that\* save from Emi Martinez), he has proven on occasion to be a clinical and versatile goalscorer.
Competing with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Dusan Vlahovic was never going to be an easy task, but if Kolo Muani would be willing to play as a back up to Alexander Isak, then this could be a potentially brilliant move.
Of course, Toon fans should take note that this news could be similar to the Joan Garcia news, and is merely the club’s name being used to try and force a club like Juventus (a la Barcelona) to move ahead with their own pursuit for the Frenchman.
