Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah could make history after being named as one of six candidates nominated for the Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Player of the Year.

The award, voted for by Premier League players, has been presented since 1974.

Salah enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 season, netting 29 times and providing 18 assists in 38 Premier League games, helping Liverpool secure their second league title in the Premier League era. He also helped guide his club to winning the EFL Cup.

The Egyptian has already scooped up the Premier League Player of the Season award and the Premier League Golden Boot for the 2024/25 campaign.

Salah has won the prestigious award twice before. The first time was in 2018, where he registered 32 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances, setting a new Premier League record for individual goals in a 38 game season. He secured the honour for the second time in 2022, after helping Liverpool to an EFL Cup and FA Cup, and sharing the league’s Golden Boot award with Son Heung-Min.

No player in history has won the award three times. Should Salah win the award, it would be another record broken by the “Egyptian King” in England.

The other players nominated for the award are Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Arsenal’s Declan Rice.
