Alejandro Garnacho is expected to leave Manchester United this summer, and Aston Villa are said to be monitoring the situation.

The winger has fallen out with Ruben Amorim and has been linked to a host of clubs since the end of the campaign.

Despite playing in all but two of United’s Premier League matches - and in each of their 15 Europa League fixtures last season - the Red Devils are reportedly keen to cash in on the Argentine.

The 20-year-old has been linked to several clubs, including Villa, Napoli, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, and Bayer Leverkusen.

Garnacho posts Villa shirt picture

Garnacho had tongues wagging after posting on Instagram on Sunday night.

He shared a picture of himself wearing a ‘Rashford 9’ Villa shirt - presumably match-worn - with his social media followers.

Some Villa fans jumped to the conclusion that he was hinting at a move to B6, but most believe it was simply a message of support for Rashford.

Close off the pitch, Garnacho and Rashford were both criticised by United manager Amorim soon after the Portuguese coach took over at Old Trafford.

Rashford, who has two years remaining on his United deal, commented: "My brother" on Garnacho's post, accompanied by a love heart emoji.

United set £70m price tag

It has been reported that Garnacho’s priority is to remain in the Premier League.

Unai Emery will need to add attacking talent to his squad this summer, with Rashford having returned to United following his loan spell, and Leon Bailey potentially departing.

Marco Asensio has also returned to Paris, but Villa could make him a permanent member of the squad for a reasonable fee of around £12m–£15m.

According to The Independent, Villa are one of several clubs monitoring Garnacho, but United have placed a £70m valuation on him.

Erik ten Hag, now the new Leverkusen boss, wants to work with Garnacho again - but a move is said to be complicated, as Garnacho wants to remain in England.

Morgan Rogers catch

A move for Garnacho could depend on how much Villa raise from player sales.

Specifically, the future of Morgan Rogers is said to be a key factor in whether or not Villa pursue the United winger.

The Independent adds that a possible move for Garnacho would likely hinge on Rogers’ future, as Villa do not want to sell him.

Villa have Rogers tied down to a long-term contract, and he is considered the most valuable player in the squad.

Signed for just £8m, rising to £15m in January 2024, Rogers enjoyed a sensational first full season at Villa last term.

He recorded 29 goal contributions in 54 appearances across all competitions.

Garnacho comments on future

In May, Amorim told Garnacho he could find a new club during this summer transfer window.

The winger - who started the Europa League final on the bench - angered Amorim with his comments following the 1–0 defeat to Tottenham.

Speaking after the match, the attacker said: "Up until the final I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don't know.

"The final will influence [my decision] but the whole season, the situation of the club. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards."

United will have no European football next season after failing to beat Spurs in Bilbao.
