Leeds United could trigger release clause for England international – Champions League club…

Leeds United still have a huge question mark in the team ahead of next season. The club are yet to decide on who their first choice keeper is this summer.

It looks increasingly clear that Illan Meslier is on his way out of the club. The first week of the transfer window came with reports that Leeds had offered the Frenchman to multiple clubs in hopes of a deal. However, no club has made an official approach yet, and there is every possibility he could stay if no offer arrives.

Karl Darlow stepped in goal when Meslier was dropped during the run in. The Welshman conceded just four goals on the way to Leeds winning the league title on the final day.

It is widely known that Darlow and Alex Cairs will not be in goal for Leeds in the Premier League. And it has now been reported that the Whites are seriously considering a move for this replacement.

The Times are reporting that Leeds are now pursuing a move for Aaron Ramsdale. The England keeper was part of the club’s shortlist alongside Sam Johnstone this summer. Ramsdale reportedly has a £20million release clause, but a move for him will be complicated by the Saints. Turkish giants Galatasaray are also said to be in the race for the 27-year old. The club’s current first choice, Fernando Muslera is set to leave Turkey this month.

Ramsdale just does not cut it

If Leeds want to stand a chance with Ramsdale in goal, then their Premier League campaign may be in jeopardy. Meslier turned his form around and had decent career before last year.

The statistics from last season show that the England international is still jittery between the posts. This deal is not something Leeds United should consider.
