Ethan Nwaneri was a late substitute as England beat Spain 3-1 to advance to the semi-finals of the European U21 Championship in Slovakia.
In a repeat of the 2023 final, which England won 1-0, the Young Lions proved too good for Spain once more thanks to two early goals from James McAtee and Harvey Elliott put Lee Carsley's side in command.
Javi Guerra's penalty put the game in the balance as Nwaneri was introduced on 81 minutes for Jay Stansfield, playing the final minutes at centre forward.
Elliot Anderson confirmed England's place in the final four when he converted his spot kick in injury time after Jonathan Rowe had been felled by goalkeeper Alejandro Iturbe.
The Young Lions now face 2007 champions the Netherlands in the last four in Bratislava, with France taking on Germany in the other semi-final.
