Joseph, 21, helped Leeds United win the second tier title last season under the guidance of Daniel Farke but his future is up in the air. He is under contract at Elland Road until June 2028.
Hendrie has said, as per Football League World: “Mateo Joseph is linked with Birmingham City. Birmingham are linked with so many players. I do feel he has to have a real season away where he’s going to be one of the main players. If it is to be Birmingham, I think that’s where you’re going to see the best of him.
“Obviously he’s been a bit-part player for quite some time now but has been talked about quite heavily, bags of potential. If Birmingham are going to have potential of going again, they do have to start looking and thinking what potential do the likes of Joseph have? He certainly ticks the box for them.”
Birmingham City urged to sign Leeds United’s Mateo Joseph
Birmingham City could see Joseph as someone to boost their attacking ranks. BCFC have the chance to add more firepower to their squad over the next couple of months.
Joseph isn’t guaranteed regular minutes at Leeds United, especially now in the top flight. Therefore, an exit would be beneficial to his career.

The Spain youth international has been with the Whites since joining them back in 2022. Prior to his transfer to England, he had spells at Racing Santander and Espanyol.
Joseph has made 73 appearances in all competitions since his move to West Yorkshire. He has chipped in with six goals along the way.
Will Birmingham City sign Mateo Joseph from Leeds United?
Birmingham City have been credited with an interest in a fair few players already over recent times. BCFC have ambitions to go up again next term under Chris Davies.

The Blues need to ensure that they get their recruitment right. They have money to spend and must ensure they acquire the right characters.
As Hendrie alluded to, Joseph is someone with a lot of potential and an exit wouldn’t be a surprise in the near future. He would be ideal for Birmingham City and would give them another option to pick from up top.
