NEW YORK (WMTW) - With the NBA Draft just days away, Maine’s Cooper Flagg was turning heads this weekend in the Big Apple, not on the court, but at a major sports collectibles event.
[The projected No. 1 pick](https://www.wmtw.com/article/cooper-flagg-buys-his-own-card-from-maine-collector-ahead-of-nba-draft/65148140) showed up at Fanatics Fest in New York City, where he stopped by a booth run by Dave Harding, owner of Double Play Collectibles in Scarborough.
“He comes by, ends up spending like $20,000 on cards from the table, including one of his own one-of-ones, that he gifted to a very close family friend,” Harding said. “It was a really great moment.”
Harding said Flagg looked relaxed and took time to take photos with fans. The 18-year-old Newport native is expected to go first overall when the draft kicks off Wednesday night at Barclays Center.
