Report: Everton in talks to sign £113,000-a-week midfielder, club open to £13m sale

Everton are showing interest in a summer move for former Manchester United midfielder Fred, according to Turkish outlet Sabah (via SportWitness).

The Toffees have reportedly identified the Fenerbahce star as a potential reinforcement in central midfield, as they look to replace out-of-contract veteran Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Everton are said to have made contact with Fred’s representatives in recent weeks but are currently unwilling to meet Fenerbahce’s demands for the 32-year-old Brazilian.

The Turkish giants are open to Fred’s departure and are reportedly seeking offers in the region of €15m (£12.8m) for the midfielder, who is under contract until June 2027.

Fred has been linked with a return to the Premier League in recent days, with reports suggesting Fenerbahce could look to offload the former Man United star this summer.

There are also claims that new Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho is keen to sign Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma as a replacement for the Brazilian, who made 45 appearances across all competitions last season.

Fred joined Fenerbahce from Man United in 2023 after spending five seasons at Old Trafford, where he won the League Cup during the 2022/23 campaign.

The £113,000-a-week midfielder made 213 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 14 goals and providing 19 assists.

Everton are close to securing their first signing of the summer, with talks at an advanced stage for Fulham right-back Kenny Tete to join on a free transfer.

The Dutch full-back is expected to arrive as a replacement for veterans Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman, who are both out of contract and likely to depart next week.
