Everton boss David Moyes could raid his former club, Manchester United, this summer.

The Toffees boss is looking to reinforce his squad with significant funding from the Friedkin Group.

The Scotsman needs fresh options in the centre of defence as Michael Keane is set to depart at the end of his contract, and Jarrad Branthwaite is attracting significant attention.

Everton urged against Lindelof signing

Victor Lindelof has been linked with an Everton move as he is set to be released by Manchester United when his contract expires on 30 June.

However, iconic commentator Ian Darke believes that the Toffees should steer clear of the Swedish defender.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, he said: “I mean that move, that would be devaluing the team.

“Everton have got a very good defence, a very good defensive record, goalkeeper, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, and the full-backs do their job for them as well.

“So, no insult to Lindelof, but it is definitely a drop down from Branthwaite to Lindelof.

“I think that any such idea would depress Toffees fans, my view of Lindelof is that he is solid pro but not an outstanding one.

“He hardly got a game for Man United last season, they would be going to sign a player who, you know, wasn’t really up to Premier League level anymore.

“All you would be buying is a lot of experience with him.”

The Blues reportedly want to sign Lindelof.

Lindelof deal makes no sense for Everton

The 30-year-old made just 16 appearances for the Red Devils in the Premier League last season and is not at the same level as he was when he earned that move to United.

Former Blues scout Bryan King told Goodison News that Lindelof could earn £200,000-a-week if he makes the move to the Hill Dickinson, but that would be a huge waste of money.

The new owners could spend that money elsewhere if they avoid signing the Swede, and you would hope that they come to their senses, considering the new sporting leadership that is in place on Merseyside, led by Angus Kinnear.

If Branthwaite does depart, the former Benfica star should not be the replacement.
