Chelsea 'make decision on selling Nicolas Jackson' after opening talks for £76m striker

Chelsea have reportedly decided that they will not sell Nicolas Jackson this summer. The forward has been linked with several European clubs in recent weeks, with a number of Italian outfits monitoring his situation closely.

Enzo Maresca has made it his mission to orchestrate a rebuild of his frontline ahead of next season. Chelsea have already welcomed Liam Delap to their ranks from Ipswich in a deal worth £30million, and other attacking reinforcements are being eyed.

The Stamford Bridge outfit remain in the market for another No. 9 and several options are being eyed, including Brighton’s wantaway star Joao Pedro and Eintracht Frankfurt frontman Hugo Ekitike – who is also admired by Manchester United and Liverpool.

L’Equipe report that Chelsea have also opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain for Randal Kolo Muani, who joined the French giants for £76million in 2023. The Frenchman has struggled since returning to Ligue 1 and was sent out on loan to Juventus last season, and the Italian outfit are hopeful of re-signing the 26-year-old, either on another short-term deal or permanently.

Despite welcoming Delap and the signing of a second striker being in the reckoning, Sky Sports report that Chelsea are not looking to part ways with Jackson this summer. The Blues feel that, as it stands, Delap and the Senegal international are two world-class options already.

Although Saudi Pro League clubs – as well as European outfits – are keen on Jackson, Chelsea are not willing to part ways with the 24-year-old unless a ‘big offer’ arrives. As far as the higher powers at the club are concerned, he is not going anywhere.

Although Jackson has shown previously that he is capable of playing on the wing, Chelsea are also looking to bring in at least one new winger – with Jadon Sancho having failed to agree terms to join permanently and Mykhaylo Mudryk awaiting a ban.

Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens was pursued before the Club World Cup got underway and it remains to be seen whether the Blues reignite their approach when the competition draws to a close. French starlet Malick Fofana is also admired and could be available for around £40m, with Lyon reluctantly open to offers for the Belgium international as they need to raise funds for financial reasons.
