OBJ Link to Giants Comeback Features One Major Obstacle

Odell Beckham Jr. made one play ... and became a global phenomenon.

It happened when the then-New York Giants receiver managed a one-handed falling-backwards catch on "Sunday Night Football'' against the Dallas Cowboys on November 23, 2014.

The world doesn't remember that the Giants, as usual, lost to Dallas.

The world remembers "The Catch."

And the world remembers "OBJ.''

Beckham, who the Giants would trade him away during the 2019 offseason as he moved to the Cleveland Browns - thus beginning an eventual tour of the NFL - was a 1,000-yard guy early in his career.

But now? Beckham is opening up about that move.

"I never ever wanted to leave the New York Giants,'' he told CBS. “The reason you heard me talking about what was going on was because I was pissed because, where I come from in college, if we lost one game, our season was over.”

Beckham will turn 33 in November, and it has been suggested that he has matured greatly since that time as after starting his career with the Giants when they picked him No. 12 overall out of LSU in 2014 and he won Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, he's become a bit of a gypsy.

Now along comes a Fanatics event on Saturday during which a fan shouted to OBJ to return to the Giants.

Odell replied simply, "I got you."

Beckham is currently a free agent, and we presume he'd like another shot at the NFL.

Can he replicate what he did as a rookie when Beckham had 91 grabs for 1,305 yards and 12 TDs?

Of course not.

What holds back any bidder? His numbers with the Ravens and then the Dolphins suggest that his injuries have become an obstacle.

Beckham did end up winning Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams. So he's got the ring to go with "The Catch.'' And that seems like it's about the end of the NFL line for OBJ.
