Man United now at risk of missing out on£20m wonderkid loved by scouts, he is a perfect Antony upgrade

Barcelona are about to end Manchester United’s long-term interest in a European wonderkid.

The new transfer strategy at Manchester United implemented by Ineos has been to identify young talent and bring them over to continue their development at Carrington.

Last summer, Chido Obi and Sekou Kone arrived as two incredibly exciting talents, and this summer United have already signed Enzo Kana-Biyik and are looking to add even more talent to their roster.

United have had a long-term interest in Roony Bardghji but the now 19-year-old, who was priced around £20 million last summer, is hot property in the transfer window.

Roony Bardghji wanted by Barcelona despite Man Utd links

Fans may be familiar with the young winger after Bardghji scored the winner against United when Copenhagen beat the Red Devils 4-3 in the Champions League in 2023.

Ever since, the club has shown a keen interest in the youngster and Bardghji described United links as a “dream”.

United scouts were wowed by Bardghji after watching him in action, but it seems the Red Devils failed to move quickly enough and are now at risk of losing the youngster.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Barcelona are in advanced stages to sign Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen.

The Swedish winger is expected to join in July, which could land yet another blow against Marcus Rashford’s ‘dream’ Barcelona move.

Roony Bardghji was perfect replacement for Jadon Sancho and Antony

It seems inevitable that Ineos will sell three wingers this summer with Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony all headed for the exit.

The arrival of Matheus Cunha has already somewhat helped to reinforce Amorim’s attacking department, but more depth will be needed.

Bardghji was a perfect upgrade on Antony given his speed, direct running and eye for goal. In Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, he would be a strong fit as a right-sided No.10.

One concern around the exciting winger, however, is that Bardghji has suffered with injury problems which may put Ineos off a deal.

He suffered a cruciate ligament tear last season which ruled him out for much of the campaign, and so it is hard to tell just how far along he is in his development.
