Barcelona are set to hand Frenkie de Jong a contract extension and are keen for everything to be signed, sealed and delivered by the end of this week.
De Jong has already admitted he’s hoping that a new contract at the club will be finalised soon after agreeing to continue with Barcelona.
Gerard Romero reports that Barcelona “want to finalize the deal by the end of this week” and also points out that his “renewal will also help generate more Fair Play.”
Barcelona are eager to generate more fair play so they can register Joan Garcia and then also bring in Nico Williams from Athletic Club.
Departures will still be needed but Deco has admitted he’s hoping that a “major sale” will not be required this summer.
Instead it’s hoped that Barca can find enough financial wiggle room by offloading the likes of Pablo Torre, Ansu Fati, Pau Victor, Andreas Christensen and Inaki Pena.
