Alex Caruso is an NBA Champion (again)

For the second time in his NBA career, former Texas A&M guard Alex Caruso is an NBA Champion. After winning in 2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers, Caruso got to hoist the Davey O’Brien trophy again on Sunday night as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Caruso has had one of the more unexpectedly productive NBA careers in recent memory, going undrafted out of A&M starting off in the G League (the NBA’s version of the minor leagues). But through his athleticism and defense, the White Mamba carved out meaningful roles for himself for several seasons with both the Lakers and Bulls before landing in OKC this past year.

And Caruso wasn’t just a benchwarmer, averaging 29 minutes per game in the NBA Finals and dropping two 20-point games, pivotal performances in the Thunder’s Game 2 and Game 4 victories. In the decisive Game 7, he scored 10 points while adding 3 rebounds, 3 steals and a block.

Congratulations, Alex. Gig ‘em.
