Liverpool could use Darwin Nunez to sign 'perfect' striker with 37 goals in 41 games - opinion

Darwin Nunez’s time at Liverpool looks set to come to an end this summer.

Saudi Pro League have been chasing him since January, with Al-Hilal making a £71m bid for Darwin Nunez in January; however, Liverpool refused to sell him then.

But they are ready to sell him now. TBR Football has reported that Arne Slot has already informed Nunez that he is not in his plans going into next season.

While Saudi interest remains, Napoli have also emerged as potential suitors for the striker.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are actively seeking a new striker and have been linked with several high-profile attacking options, including Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen.

Liverpool should use Darwin Nunez to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli

TBR Football has previously reported that Liverpool are prepared to spend big on a striker this summer.

And while Isak remains Liverpool’s dream signing, they are also linked with Osimhen. In fact, Liverpool have already held talks with Osimhen’s representatives over a potential transfer.

The Nigerian himself has rejected a big-money offer from Saudi, as he wants to move to the Premier League.

Osimhen has a £63m release clause in his contract, while Nunez should cost in a similar region, considering that the Saudis have already offered £71m for him in January.

According to the latest from Fabrizio Romano, Nunez has now given Napoli the green light for a move, pending an agreement between the two clubs over a fee.

This opens the door for Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes to explore a potential swap deal that could benefit all parties, exchanging Nunez for Osimhen, a striker who could be a ‘perfect’ fit for Arne Slot’s side.

Osimhen would be a great signing for Liverpool

Osimhen has consistently been performing at the top level over the years.

He has been a key part of Napoli’s success in recent years, having scored 76 goals and assisted 18 in 133 games across all competitions for the Italian club.

Osimhen was loaned out to Turkish side Galatasaray last season and he continued to impress there, scoring 37 goals in 41 games and assisted another eight.

The 26-year-old could really flourish at Liverpool, especially playing alongside the likes of Mohamed Salah and Florian Wirtz.
