Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira has described Matheus Cunha as a "special player" following his recent move to Manchester United.
The Brazil international, 26, joined United earlier this month after they triggered the £62.5million release clause in his contract at Molineux. He has signed an initial five-year deal at Old Trafford.
United identified the playmaker as a top target ahead of the start of this summer's transfer window to fill one of the two No.10 spots. He is expected to occupy the left-sided No.10 berth.
Cunha enjoyed an excellent farewell season at Wolves in 2024/25, scoring 17 goals and registering six assists across all competitions. Of his 17 goals, 15 were scored in the Premier League.
Cunha made no secret of his desire to seal a move to Old Trafford and it is hoped he will hit the ground running at the start of next season. Pereira gave his former player a glowing reference when asked to assess his qualities.
"He's a special player, capable of deciding a match in seconds," Pereira told Spanish publication Marca. "He has enormous talent. I gave him confidence to put his talent to work for the team, and he's contributed a lot.
"However, he felt he had to leave, and now he'll have the opportunity to reaffirm his position at a club like Manchester United."
Cunha, who arrived in England from Atletico Madrid in January 2023, flourished under Pereira's coaching, scoring nine goals and grabbing three assists in 19 matches. He scored 33 goals during his Wolves career.
