Paul Scholes’admission over elite Man Utd icon proves why nobody could rival Sir Alex Ferguson’s world-class player

Paul Scholes paid the ultimate tribute to one fellow Manchester United legend that he played alongside at Old Trafford under iconic former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 50-year-old former Manchester United midfielder made 716 senior appearances for the Red Devils and Paul Scholes scored 155 times for the Premier League club.

Scholes is considered one of the best Premier League players of all time and one of the best midfielders in the history of football after his prolific playing career.

The United legend was part of the last Red Devils team to lift the Premier League title under ex-manager Sir Alex Ferguson in the 2012-13 campaign at Old Trafford.

Scholes had initially retired from football in 2011 before the former United star walked back on his retirement and made a return to Old Trafford in 2012.

The former England international bowed out of United as a player for the second – and final time – in 2013, while Ferguson also retired as Red Devils manager.

What Paul Scholes said about Ryan Giggs speaks volumes about the Man Utd legend under Sir Alex Ferguson

Paul Scholes shared the pitch with Ryan Giggs both during their time in the Manchester United youth academy and later in the Red Devils’ first-team squad.

Ryan Giggs is widely regarded as one of the all-time Premier League players and the 51-year-old Welshman played the majority of his career under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The former United winger, much like Scholes, spent his entire legendary playing career at Old Trafford and hoovered up the major silverware at the club.

Giggs’ impressive trophy haul at United included 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, four FA Cups and four League Cups under Ferguson.

Ferguson hailed Giggs as one of the four “world-class” players that he managed during his legendary 26-year reign as United manager at Old Trafford.

Scholes was asked by TNT Sports which ex-United teammate he could most likely see coming out of retirement and playing football again, with Giggs being his pick.

Even Man Utd legend Cristiano Ronaldo could see Ryan Giggs’ remarkable longevity after playing against him

Ryan Giggs finally called it time on his illustrious playing career in 2014 at the age of 40, having previously been a player-coach under ex-United manager David Moyes.

The United legend crossed paths with former Red Devils teammate Cristiano Ronaldo during the 2-1 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid in 2013.

Cristiano Ronaldo even hilariously suggested that “unbelievable” Giggs could have played until he was 50 after praising his remarkable ability as a footballer.

“Giggsy is going to finish when he’s 50 years old,” he said, as per The Daily Mirror in 2013.

“He’s an incredible player. He’s still fit and still playing in this kind of game. It’s unbelievable.

“Giggsy is the flag of his club and I’m happy for him.”

Giggs is United’s all-time leading appearance-maker and he played in an eye-watering 963 matches for the Red Devils and he scored 168 times and registered 268 assists.
