Monaco chasing £47.3m Manchester United keeper - Manchester United News
Monaco are exploring a deal to sign Man United keeper Andre Onana according to Sky Sports. The 29 year old shot stopper has come under increased scrutiny after a series of high-profile errors, and has been tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Onana joined United from Inter for £47.3m in July 2023, and has since made 101 appearances in all competitions. His eight errors leading to goals (across all competitions) since the start of the 2023/24 season is the second highest in the division behind only Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen.
While he was first choice for much of his time at the club, he notably only started one of United’s last four Premier League games as backup Altay Bayindir got the nod instead. With United now linked to Aston Villa stopper Emi Martinez, rumours have circulated about Onana’s future, with clubs in Saudi Arabia initially linked with a move.

It now appears Monaco have entered the race, although no formal offer has been presented yet.
Monaco keen on Onana
United failed to qualify for European football for next season, enduring their worst ever Premier League season and finishing 15th in the table. They are expected to reshape their squad with several outgoings and incomings as they look to both rebuild and balance the wage bill.
Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof have all already been released by the club, while last season’s loan trio of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Antony are all available for transfer this summer.
So to is Alejandro Garnacho, who has been told by Ruben Amorim to find a new club following the player’s public criticism of United’s season and his playing time in the Europa League final.
As far as incomings, United have signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5m deal and have also sent a formal bid for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.
Monaco finished third in Ligue 1 last season and are looking to kick on with reinforcements this summer. They are also tracking former United star Paul Pogba following his return from a lengthy ban, while also working on a deal for young Barca talent Ansu Fati.
