Marcus Rashford is destined to leave Manchester United this summer after two decades at the club, however his next club is yet to be decided.
The United academy graduate has had a rocky last season at Old Trafford as the attacker experienced a breakdown in the relationship with new manager Ruben Amorim.
Amorim and his coaching team began growing concerned over Rashford’s off-pitch antics affecting his on-pitch performances.
As such, the England international was dropped from the squad, going out on loan with Aston Villa to get game time.
Under Unai Emery, Rashford returned to form, making regular appearances at Villa Park and reclaiming his spot in the England squad.
However, with Villa missing out on Champions League football, and the extra £100 million in revenue, the west-Midlands side can’t make his move permanent due to his hefty £325,000 per week wage.
As such, Rashford has returned to Old Trafford, however is trying to get out of the pre-season tour to focus on sealing a permanent move from United.
Whilst Rashford is being looked at by Barcelona in what would be a dream move for the attacker, he’s also getting interest closer home.
Football Insider has reported that former Manchester United scout Mick Brown has revealed that Newcastle are interested in taking Marcus Rashford on loan.
Whilst Newcastle were reportedly interested before, with his wages proving a barrier for The Magpies, Eddie Howe’s side are reportedly once again interested.
Speaking to Football Insider, Brown commented: “Newcastle have been keeping a close eye on Rashford.”
He continued: “He would be a good addition to Eddie Howe’s squad because he can play out wide and through the middle, both areas they’re looking to strengthen. They’re prepared to take a chance on Rashford, but they don’t want to pay mega money for it.
“I don’t doubt he’d be interested too, because he can play Champions League football there. He’s going to be an option for them, but only if they can get him on loan. They’ll have to wait and see what happens because United ideally would like to move him on permanently, but I’m not sure there are many suitors.
“He’s got to make a decision with his wages because that’s what the problem is. A loan move to Newcastle, similar to the Villa one, would have United paying a percentage of that. So it’s something that works for them, but isn’t the best situation for United.”
